Ohio National Dual teams excel

As Team Ohio preps for Fargo, the freestyle teams gave a glimpse of what could go down in North Dakota.

The Junior team finished second at the National Duals in Wisconsin and 16U team was runner-up in Utah.

The 14U squad gave a glimpse of the future as well with a second-place finish in Pennsylvania.

Juniors look great in second place finish

At the Junior level, Ohio Scarlet advanced out of pool play with a 68-2 win over South Dakota Red, 45-20 win over California Red and 36-29 loss to Pennsylvania Red. The squad took true second over California Red.

That put them in the Gold/Silver Pool where they beat Indiana Gold 34-20, Illinois 33-31 and Utah 37-29.

Pennsylvania Red beat Ohio Scarlet 37-28 for the title and was the only squad to beat them.

James Bechter, Grey Burnett, Louden Dixon, Ayden Dodd, Eli Esguerra, Taegan Gilmore, Bronson Hertenstein, Caige Horak, Musa Jalloh, Ryan Kennedy, Eddie Kessen, Matt Kowalski, Anthony Kroninger,  Coltyn Reedy, Mason Rohr, Blackburn Savage, Rylan Seacrist, Liston Seibert, Braydon Studer, Blaze Van Gundy, Bennett Wachter, Loc Webber, Colin Wooldridge and Danny Zmorowski made up the team.

16U almost runs the tables in runner-up finish

Team Ohio blew through pool play with a 54-16 win over Florida, 61-11 victory over Kansas and 45-27 triumph against Minnesota Blue to finish on top after Day 1.

Ohio beat Illinois 61-9, Indiana Gold 60-18 and Pennsylvania Blue 44-23 to reach the finals.

Wisconsin eked out a 41-32 in the title match.

The 16U team was comprised of Bradley Bauman, Weston Borgers, Kyler Crooks, Gavin Genovese, Bo Gibbs, Jakob Hoke, Jaxon Holtz, Xander Horak, Urijah Lopez, John Manley, Andrew Morro, Cohen Reer, Tommy Rowlands, Carter Smith, Cole Speer, Conner Whitely and Braylon Wright.

14U rolls to silver at National Duals

Ohio Gray opened pool play with a 74-1 thumping of Louisiana but fell 39-35 in a heartbreaker to Michigan Blue.

The squad bounced back with a 65-9 win over Utah and then dropped Connecticut 74-4 in a battle for true second for the pool.

Ohio Gray turned it up in the Gold/Silver pool with a 37-35 win over Illinois, 39-35 win over Wisconsin and 39-34 victory over Oklahoma Red.

Pennsylvania Blue got the better of them in the final with a 59-12 victory.

AJ Bechlem, Tony Biondillo, Christan Bushy, Elijah Bushy, Spencer Davern, Waylen Denkins, Dominic Jacobucci, Lincoln James, Lance Jennings, Kaine Lewis, Mason Mamich, Chase Miller-Smith, Constantinos Paxos, Luke Rafferty, Chase Randolph, Cameron Smith, Dawson Wicker and Edward Zeller made up Ohio Gray.
